Uganda

In addition to classic safari wildlife, Uganda is home to 50% of the world’s mountain gorilla population, over 10% of the worlds bird population and 7% of the world’s butterfly population. It is also the source of the Nile and has the world’s smallest chapel, which can hold only the preacher and 2 others. If a couple can’t find romance in any of those options, we give up.

Madagascar

Miavana, on the private island of Nosy Ankao, is one of the most exclusive beach resorts in all of Africa. With just 14 villas to choose from, all of which face the sea, guests have total privacy. Villas come complete with a private pool, kitchen, and butler service.  Other over-the-top resort amenities include an infinity pool that faces the Indian Ocean and two helicopters that guests can take to visit nearby islands., Nosy Ankao is set within a marine park of pristine coral reefs, which means that guests can go snorkeling, diving, and even whale-watching just off-shore. On a land-based excursion, they can spot lemurs and turtles nesting on the beach. And the sights don’t end when the sun goes down: The Miavana staff will even set up a private sleepout under the stars.
