• 

  Day 1: Arrive Kilimanjaro or Arusha (D)

  On arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for tonight, Arumeru Lodge. The lodge is located in a unique protected area. In the gorgeous gardens, you can observe dik-diks, monkeys and a large number of bird species. The lodge benefits from the view of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru.

    Arumeru Lodge (Deluxe)

    On a former coffee plantation surrounded by lush, magnificent gardens and wonderful views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru lies Arumeru Lodge. Situated midway between Arusha city center and Kilimanjaro International Airport, within easy reach of Tanzania's renowned national parks, this charming lodge provides a perfect base for exploring the wonders of northern Tanzania.

    Arumeru is an eco-lodge. Plastic bottle-free since 2020, the lodge has a light CO² footprint and most hot water is already now produced by solar water heaters. The water served for meals and in the rooms is produced by the latest filtering technologies.

  Day 2: Tarangire National Park, or Ngorongoro Conservation Area (B,L,D)

  Northern route: After breakfast, head to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is a Big 5 park most popular for its large elephant herds, and enormous Baobab trees. Check in to your accommodation for 2 nights, Maweninga Camp, perched on the top of an imposing granite rock, overlooking Lake Manyara and Burunge.  Enjoy a game drive in the afternoon.

  Southern Route: After breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park. The Park has a wide variety of habitats attracting a host of different animals: in the tall trees of the ground water forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, on the slope of the escarpment, elephants stand in the shade of the baobab. After a game drive, continue on to Karatu, and your accommodation at Bashay Rift Lodge, situated on a hilltop within a working coffee plantation, offering views of the Ngorongoro Crater and the Rift Valley; it's just a short distance from the Crater entrance gate.

    Maweninga Camp (Deluxe)

    Perched on the top of an imposing granite rock, Maweninga Camp is within the Tarangire National Park, overlooking Lake Manyara and Burunge. Spread over 1780 square miles, the average altitude of the park reaches 3500 feet. 

    Tarangire is considered one of the most beautiful shelters of fauna in Tanzania. Its large herds of elephants as well as its huge baobab trees have established Tarangire's reputation as a premier National Park. Tarangire is also home to large numbers of wild animals that are hard to find in others parks; Gerenuk, lesser and greater Kudu, Oryx and Eland.

    Maweninga Camp was built in a remote area of Tarangire, on the top of a huge granite rock that towers over the picturesque landscape.

    Maweninga Camp offers 16 canvas tents built on individual raised wooden platforms. Each tent features an open terrace, a bedroom, a dressing room alcove with en-suite bathroom. All tents are uniquely decorated and offer unique views over the savannah, Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley. The picturesque backdrop on the horizon are the volcanoes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Ngorongoro Crater, Oldeani and Lemagrut. 

    Public areas consist of a lovely restaurant and bar with wooden floors and makuti roof adjacent to the huge flat rock terrace. Refreshing drinks are served while guests admire breathtaking views and the sun setting over the bushlands. A smaller private dining area and camp fire in the bush are popular with those seeking privacy. 

    Experience the African sky after dinner in a lounge chair at the magical campfire and listen to Maasai stories. 

    Built to the highest eco-friendly standards, Maweninga has a particularly low-carbon footprint. The entire camp is powered by solar energy. The electricity and hot water are supplied by a new generation solar system. Rainwater provides up to 50% of the annual water consumption, the remaining being fetched from a borehole.

  Day 3: Tarangire National Park, or, Ngorongoro Crater (B,L,D)

  Northern route: Enjoy game drives in Tarangire National Park and watch familial interaction between the elephants. As you drive, don’t forget to look up into the trees; like all cats, leopards love to survey their territory from above. Overnight at Maweninga again. (B,L,D)
  
  

  Southern Route: Enjoy a full day’s game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, and a picnic lunch in what is surely one of the world’s most fascinating game destinations. Much of the wildlife in the Crater never scale the 2000’ walls to leave, making this caldera a gigantic terrarium.  Expect to see four of the Big Five today!  After your day in the Crater, continue on to your accommodation for the following 3 nights, Olduvai Camp.

    Olduvai Camp (Deluxe)

    Located close to Olduvai Gorge in the Ngorongoro Conservation area, Olduvai Camp offers a truly unique bush experience. Unlike national parks, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area does not exclude human life. Indeed, humans and wildlife have been sharing this vast expanse of over 500 square miles for hundreds of years. 

    The Maasai people live here on their ancestral lands and continue their traditional way of life. They are herdsmen whose lives revolve entirely around their cattle.The animals not only serve as food, but are also their only form of income and measure of their wealth.

    Olduvai's 17 thatched tents sit high on stone terraces peering out across the plains and are centered around a kopje, a huge granitic rock rising above the plains. The tents and the main area with restaurant, bar and terraces are all designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment. 
    Tents have private viewing decks, large bedrooms, a dressing area and ensuite bathrooms. The decor borrows from the earthy tones of the surrounding plains. All offer superb views over the savannah. Tent interiors are comfortable and the decor creates an authentic sense of being truly on safari. 

    The camps public areas are built in the rocks under an impressive thatched roof. Main bar and restaurant can be found at the lower level whilst smaller lounge and restaurant welcome smaller parties higher up in the kopjes. A highlight after an eventful safari day is a sundowner cocktail in the private atmosphere of the small lounge high up in the rocks.

    The area around Olduvai Camp is ideal for hiking and walking directly from the camp. Enjoy an afternoon walk to the highest kopjes in the area. You will experience the African sunset against the backdrop of the breathtaking plains of the Serengeti. In the morning hours, take an excursion to nearby Olduvai Gorge. A very special experience is the day trip to a summit of one of the surrounding volcanoes. All treks are led by experienced Maasai warriors.

    Other interesting destinations are Olduvai and its museum, a Maasaï village or the geological wonders of the Nassera Rocks or the Shifting Sands. Whatever you choose to do, your time at Olduvai Camp will be memorable.

  Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater, or, Ngorongoro Conservation Area (B,L,D)

  Northern Route: Leave Tarangire for a full day’s game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, and a picnic lunch in what is surely one of the world’s most fascinating game destinations. Much of the wildlife in the Crater never scale the 2000’ walls to leave, making this caldera a gigantic terrarium.  Expect to see four of the Big Five today!  After your day in the Crater, continue on to your accommodation for tonight, Olduvai Camp.

  Southern Route: Spend the day enjoying game drives and exploring the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – unique in that wildlife and Maasai co-habit, and have been doing so for many hundreds of years. The Maasai live here on their ancestral lands and continue their traditional way of life. You will have the opportunity to interact with these amazing people and learn about their culture. In addition to game drives, activities over the next few days include mountain biking, hiking, bush walks, and visiting a local Maasai village.

  Northern Route: Depart in the morning for the vast plains of the legendary Serengeti National Park. Break for a picnic lunch in the heart of Serengeti. In the afternoon, the safari continues through Seronera and Lobo. There is a large concentration of lions, leopards and cheetahs in this part of the Serengeti. Arrive at Togoro Plains, your accommodation for the following 3 nights, in the late afternoon.

  Southern Route: Spend the day enjoying game drives and exploring the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. In addition to game drives, activities over the next few days include mountain biking, hiking, bush walks, and visiting a local Maasai village.

  Southern Route: Depart in the morning for the vast plains of the legendary Serengeti National Park. Break for a picnic lunch in the heart of Serengeti. In the afternoon, the safari continues through Seronera and Lobo. There is a large concentration of lions, leopards and cheetahs in this part of the Serengeti. Arrive at Torogo Plains, your accommodation for the following 2 nights, in the late afternoon.

  Day 8: Depart Arusha (B,L)

  This morning, enjoy our last safari before a transfer to the nearby airstrip to board your scheduled flight to Arusha. On arrival in Arusha you will be met and transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure.
