Description

In the Philippines, the many centuries of Spanish colonial rule combined with the Chinese influences have created a one of a kind Asian-Hispano mixture. Add to that the indigenous tribes and rich Malay folklore, and you get one of the most intriguing and diverse places on earth.

This vacation includes time in Manila, Boracay and Cebu, and an excursion to Bohol, and offers a comprehensive experience in the Philippines.  Travelers will come away with an appreciation of the marvelous diversity of the Philippines as an all-round tourist destination.

Manila, the bustling capital of the Philippines, offers a blend of historical landmarks, vibrant culture, and modern attractions. The city's diverse culinary scene, featuring everything from street food to gourmet dining, ensures a memorable gastronomic adventure. Visitors can explore the walled city of Intramuros, home to Spanish-era churches, forts, and museums that tell the story of the nation's colonial past. For shopping and entertainment, Makati and Bonifacio Global City boast upscale malls, trendy restaurants, and lively nightlife. Rizal Park and Manila Bay provide scenic spots for relaxation.

The small island of Boracay is renowned for its stunning white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, making it a premier destination for beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts. White Beach, the island's most famous stretch, offers a vibrant atmosphere with numerous resorts, restaurants, and bars. Beyond the beach, visitors can enjoy activities such as snorkeling, diving, and kite surfing. For night owls, Boracay also boasts a lively nightlife, with beachfront bars and clubs offering entertainment until the early hours. Despite its popularity, Boracay maintains areas of natural beauty, including serene coves and lush hills, perfect for those seeking tranquility.

Cebu, a bustling island province, combines urban excitement with natural beauty. Cebu City offers historical sites like Magellan’s Cross and the Basilica del Santo Niño, alongside vibrant shopping and dining scenes. Nearby, stunning beaches and diving spots, like those on Mactan Island, attract sun-seekers and adventure enthusiasts. Bohol, a neighboring island, is famous for the unique Chocolate Hills, picturesque white-sand beaches, and the adorable tarsiers in its sanctuaries. The island's Loboc River offers scenic cruises, while Panglao Island is a top destination for diving and snorkeling. Together, Cebu and Bohol provide a rich mix of cultural and natural attractions.

    Day 7 - Bohol (B)

You will be transferred to Cebu Pier for your ferry to Bohol and island province located east of Cebu that is naturally beautiful and historically rich. Its capital city, Tagbilaran, has tree-lined plazas and stone buildings, including a church built by the Jesuits in the 18th century. The province has gained a reputation as a site of some of the best beaches in the country. Along its coastlines are numerous isles including Panglao, Cabilao, Mahinay and Lapinpin, which are excellent diving spots.

Your first stop is the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in the town of Corella, which serves as a refuge for the smallest primate in the world, the tarsier.  Observe these rare, nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat and be amazed by their agility as they move about, leaping from one tree to the other, and swivel their heads nearly 360 degrees.

Then proceed to Baclayon, making a short stop at the historical Blood Compact site, where Spain’s Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain, sealed their friendship with a symbolic drink.  In Baclayon, visit a centuries-old stone church that houses a museum containing a collection of religious art, ecclesiastical vestments, as well as librettos of church music inscribed in Latin on animal skins.

Proceed with the tour, passing by Bilar man-made forest, a thick undergrowth of towering mahogany trees grown on the fringes of the highway leading to the Chocolate Hills, the country’s geological wonder.  From a distance, these hills look like huge candy drops that change in color with the season, and are aptly named ‘chocolate’ when the hill grasses turn deep brown in summer.  Hike up to the viewpoint for a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area before moving on to Loboc River where a cruise downstream on a floating restaurant is made more enjoyable with a delectable lunch served on board.  Return to Cebu via ferry in the late afternoon.
