Description

This value-priced safari visits three distinct regions of Kenya, offering a diverse range of wildlife, scenery and topography.

After a night in Nairobi – we recommend extending by a night to explore Nairobi and recover from your international flight – head to Shaba National Reserve, located in the ‘northern frontier’.  As you drive north you will cross the Equator and stop for a photo if you wish.

Shaba Game Reserve in Samburu offers an intimate safari experience. Distinguished by its arid beauty, the reserve hosts a diverse array of wildlife, including the endangered Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe. The Ewaso Nyiro River sustains life amid the desert, attracting elephants, buffalo, and numerous bird species. Shaba's historical significance, immortalized in Joy Adamson's "Born Free," adds depth to its allure.

Next, drive south to Lake Nakuru National Park, nestled in Kenya's Great Rift Valley, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike. Its centerpiece, Lake Nakuru, is renowned for its vibrant pink hues, courtesy of countless flamingos that flock to its shores. The park is a sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinos, while Rothschild's giraffes grace its woodlands. Embark on a game drive to spot lions, rhino and buffalo in the surrounding acacia forests.

Finally, head to iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, the crown jewel of Kenya's safari destinations. The Reserve spans 580 square miles of sweeping savannahs, rolling hills, and meandering rivers. It's an icon of African wildlife, famed for the annual Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles traverse its plains in search of greener pastures. The Mara River, a lifeline for the reserve, hosts dramatic crossings teeming with crocodiles and hippos. Home to the Big Five and a plethora of other species, including cheetahs and hyenas, Masai Mara offers unparalleled game viewing opportunities against a backdrop of breathtaking vistas, ensuring an unforgettable safari adventure.
