Day 1: Cairo

Day 2: Cairo
Today your Egyptologist guide will collect you from your hotel for your full day tour of the Pyramids and Sphinx, two icons of Egypt that are every bit as magnificent as you imagined. These are located in Giza an area about 30 minutes from the center of Cairo. You will also visit Memphis and Sakkara, equally as impressive. Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, serves as a treasure trove of archaeological wonders, including colossal statues and temples. Adjacent to Memphis, the necropolis of Sakkara houses the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world's oldest stone structure, and numerous tombs, offering a captivating glimpse into ancient Egyptian civilization. Day 3: Cairo
Again, your Egyptologist guide will collect you from your hotel for a full day tour that will include visiting the Egyptian Museum, a huge collection of artifacts and antiquities including the spectacular treasures of King Tutankhamen. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the iconic Citadel of Saladin, the mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and St Serguis Church.
In the evening, you might opt to take a taxi to Khan el-Khalili, Cairo's historic souq, a labyrinth of narrow alleys brimming with vibrant stalls selling everything from spices and textiles to traditional crafts and souvenirs. Bustling with energy and rich in history, it's a must-visit destination where visitors can immerse themselves in Cairo's vibrant culture and bustling street life. (B,L)

Day 4: Luxor
You will be transferred to Luxor, once known as Thebes, the starting point of your cruise. Before boarding the M/S Jaz Regent, explore the impressive Karnak and Luxor temples. Situated on the east bank of the Nile, these temples are awe-inspiring remnants of ancient Thebes. Karnak's sprawling complex is a testament to Egypt's grandeur, with colossal statues, towering obelisks, and magnificent pylons. Luxor Temple dazzles with its monumental architecture and captivating hieroglyphs.
Enjoy lunch and dinner onboard your ship.

Day 5: Edfu
Early this morning, you may opt for a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings (extra expense).
After breakfast, visit the stunning tombs at the Valley of the Kings, which houses over 60 elaborately decorated tombs, including that of Tutankhamun, revealing treasures and insights into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife, captivating visitors worldwide.
See the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female rulers and most successful Pharaohs, Before returning to your ship, take a photo stop by the giant Colossi of Memnon.

Day 6: Edfu
Visit the temple of Horus in Edfu by horse carriage. One of the best-preserved temples of Ancient Egypt, Horus was built to honor the falcon-headed God by the same name and showcases exquisite reliefs and monumental architecture.
Sail on to Kom Ombo and visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, renowned for its unique double temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. This symmetrical structure boasts captivating reliefs and offers insights into ancient Egyptian religious beliefs.

Day 7: Aswan
Today is mostly unplanned. You may opt to explore this picturesque city independently, or, to add a day trip to Abu Simbel (own expense). Located in southern Egypt, Abu Simbel is home to two colossal temples carved into the rock face during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II. These temples, dedicated to Ramesses II and his queen Nefertari, feature remarkable statues, intricate carvings, and an awe-inspiring facade, making them UNESCO World Heritage sites and marvels of ancient engineering.

Day 8: Cairo
Before transferring to the airport for your flight back to Cairo, visit the elegant Temple of Philae, situated on Agilkia Island, an ancient marvel dedicated to the goddess Isis. Miraculously relocated to its current location to save it from flooding, this beautifully preserved temple features stunning reliefs, columns, and sacred structures, drawing visitors with its serene beauty and rich history.
