    Day 6 - Te Anau

    Experience rugged peaks, verdant rainforest and twisting and hidden inlets on a full-day tour to Doubtful Sound. The only way to reach Doubtful Sound is by taking a scenic cruise across Lake Manapouri, followed by a bus journey over the stunning Wilmot Pass, New Zealand's most expensive and remote road.     Day 7 - Te Anau (B)

    Experience the ultimate guided day walk on the Kepler Track from Te Anau, starting with a scenic helicopter flight over Lake Te Anau and the lush native beech forest, landing in the alpine zone at Luxmore Hut. Hike through alpine tussock fields, taking in panoramic views of the surrounding Fiordland mountains, with the option to ascend to the summit of Mt Luxmore (weather permitting).

    After exploring the alpine area, descend through beech forest, passing beneath towering limestone bluffs, before reaching the sandy shores of Brod Bay, where a water taxi awaits to take you back to Te Anau. The hike from Luxmore Hut to Brod Bay is an 8 km downhill walk, suitable for those with a medium level of fitness, with an optional 1-3 hour extension for those wanting to venture further towards the summit.

    During non-operational months (May 21 – Sep 30), the Kepler Track will be replaced with a Fiordland Heli-hike:

    Starting at the Te Anau lakeside base, take off on a scenic flight over Lake Te Anau with breathtaking views of the Hidden Lakes and the rugged Kepler Mountains. Touch down beside a pristine mountain tarn, where you’ll soak in the crisp alpine air and panoramic views of the Main Divide before continuing your flight over the remote Kepler Mountains.

    Land at Luxmore Hut with stunning vistas of Lake Te Anau’s South Arm, and begin your hike along the Kepler Great Walk trail, renowned for its well-formed paths and dramatic landscapes. Along the way, explore fascinating limestone caves (optional) and take in incredible views of Fiordland’s wilderness. Your adventure seamlessly combines air, land, and lake, creating an unforgettable experience. Maps and a full briefing are provided before departure, ensuring you’re fully prepared to explore this remarkable alpine environment.

    After breakfast, return to Queenstown Airport to drop-off the rental car prior to your flight to Nelson. On arrival collect another vehicle and make your way to your hotel for a 3-night stay. The remainder of your day is free to explore or at leisure.

    Day 9 - Nelson (B)

    Travel to Kaiteriteri to meet your guide before boarding the 9:20 am Vista Cruise to journey along the stunning coastline to Torrent Bay. Upon arrival at Torrent Bay Lodge, receive a comprehensive safety briefing and kayaking training before setting out to explore the scenic waters between Torrent Bay and Pinnacle Island.

    Paddle through beautiful beaches, tidal estuaries, and hidden coves, stopping at a sheltered beach for lunch, where you can swim, sunbathe, or relax on the golden sands. On the return journey, if conditions allow, hoist the kayak sails and glide back to Torrent Bay. Stop at Pinnacle Island to visit the seal colony and spot blue penguins and seabirds resting on rocky outcrops.

    After your kayaking adventure, farewell your guide and set off on a self-guided 2-hour bush walk around the scenic Torrent Bay Lagoon, passing Cleopatra’s Pool before reaching Anchorage. Re-board the Vista Cruise at 5:20 pm, arriving back at Kaiteriteri by 6:00 pm. Return to Nelson.

    Day 10 - Nelson (B)

    Get ready for an unforgettable day ride, taking  you one a thrilling downhill journey through lush forests, rolling farmland, a historic tunnel and alongside meandering rivers. Start your adventure with a shuttle to Flat Rock Café in Kohatu, nestled in the scenic Tasman hills, where you can enjoy a fresh coffee and cheese scone before hitting the trail.

    Cycle a 31-mile off-road route following the historic railway line back to Nelson, featuring exhilarating downhill stretches and scenic views of hop plantations, native forests, and boutique wineries. Pass through the Waimea Plains, a vibrant patchwork of crops and natural beauty, and pedal through the .86-mile Spooner’s Tunnel, the longest cycle tunnel in the southern hemisphere—an exhilarating ride through complete darkness.

    Pause to explore the historic villages of Wakefield and Brightwater and celebrate the end of your ride with a craft beer at Eddyline or McCashin’s Breweries.

Once comfortable, set off on a scenic bike tour along Wellington’s Waterfront, passing the vibrant Oriental Bay and gliding along the Miramar Peninsula’s coastal roads.
