- The Environmental Management Charge (EMC) is a fee paid by all visitors to the Great Barrier Reef. All funds collected are used for the day-to-day management and conservation of the reef. As of April 2024, the fee is generally $8.00 per person per day (for ages 4+). From 1 April 2026 a fee of $8.50 per person per day for up to 3 days (four years and older) will be added to your booking total balance (the maximum amount charged is $25.50 per person). All funds received as Environmental Management Charge payments are collected on behalf of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

Day 1 - Depart USA
Make your way to Los Angeles Airport for your overnight flight to Brisbane. If you require a connecting flight from another US gateway, please let us know and we can quote accordingly.

During your flight, you will cross the International Date Line.

Day 3 - Arrive Brisbane
On arrival in Brisbane, you will be met by your driver and transferred to your accommodation for a 3-night stay. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 4 - Brisbane
This morning, you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Holt Street Wharf for a full day on Tangalooma Island, that includes a guided snorkel tour through the magical Tangalooma Shipwrecks of Moreton Island. The crystal-clear waters that surround the wrecks are filled with over 200 species of fish and 130 species of coral, not to mention 3 different species of marine sea turtle, dolphins and even our resident Wobbegong sharks and stingrays. This guided tour begins at the Tangalooma beach front, with a short boat ride to the wrecks, with all snorkel gear provided. At the end of the day, the highlight of any visit to Tangalooma is the opportunity to hand feed one of the wild bottlenose dolphins that visit the shores each evening at sunset before returning to Brisbane.

Enjoy a hassle-free day out to Australia Zoo with round-trip transfers from select Brisbane. Ride comfortably in an air-conditioned vehicle, then get into the zoo quickly as admission is included. Day 6 - Lady Elliot Island (L,D)
Today you will be transferred to Redcliffe airport for your flight to Lady Elliot Island. On arrival, you will be taken to your accommodation for a 3-night stay. Collect your snorkel, flippers and mask from the Dive Shop. Afternoon at leisure to snorkel in the lagoon or coral gardens. Enjoy a buffet dinner before evening activities, which may include presentations in the Education Centre, games and Turtle Viewing (in season Nov to April).

Take an early morning snorkel or walk around the island before a full buffet breakfast on the deck overlooking the coral lagoon. Free activities during the day include Reef Walking Tour (tide dependent), Island Discovery and History Walks, and combined Glass Bottom Boat Tour/Boat Snorkel. You can also try Scuba Diving. Equipment and complete instruction provided at the PADI Dive Shop (subject to additional cost and medical survey).

Day 9 - Gold Coast (B)
After checking out of your room, there is time to relax before flying to the Gold Coast. On arrival, collect your rental car and make your way to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat for a 3-night stay. While at O’Reilly’s, all your breakfast, and dinner with a selection of beer or wine are included, along with guided walks and 4WD tours each day. Feel free to do all the walks, or you may choose to relax around the resort.

For the early risers, you can enjoy a morning bird walk before breakfast. The morning will be filled with a history tour in a 4WD stopping to enjoy some Billy Tea. After lunch watch the Birds of Prey show and take a guided walk to Python Rock with views of Moran Falls. Late afternoon, you can enjoy a Sunset Experience at a remote location nearby including beer and wine, then back for dinner at the Retreat.
